General Club Rules & Conditions

1. The club shall be called Studley Camera Club and membership shall be open to all interested in the photographic arts. The Club shall be affiliated to The Photographic Alliance of Great Britain through the Midland Counties Photographic Federation.

2. Membership of the Club implies the undertaking to comply with and abide by these rules.

3. The annual subscriptions shall be fixed for the following year at the A.G.M. and payable in advance at the first meeting of the season. Late joiners pay a proportion of the subscription. A charge of £2.00 per person, per meeting will be made to visitors, for a maximum of 3 meetings. After 3 meetings, visitors will be expected to become full members.

4. The officers shall consist of: Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Hon Secretary, Hon Treasurer, Programme Secretary, and Competition Secretary to be elected at the A.G.M.

5. The affairs of the club shall be managed by a committee consisting of the officers and 5 members, all to be elected annually. The office of Chairman is the exception and this post not to be served for not more than two years consecutively.

6. Candidates for Committee membership shall be proposed by one member and seconded by another. The proposition being put to an ordinary meeting.

7. Special meetings may be convened on a requisition signed by at least 6 ordinary members, stating the object and sent to the Hon Secretary, at least 14 days before the date proposed.

8. At Committee meetings 7 shall form a quorum and 25% of the membership at General meetings.

9. The Hon Secretary shall keep minutes of all meetings and conduct the correspondence of the Club. The Treasurer shall collect all subscriptions and monies due after authorisation by the committee. At the close of each club year, a balance sheet shall be drawn up by the Treasurer and audited by one ordinary member appointed for this purpose by the A.G.M.

10. A member may be expelled or asked to resign from the club at the discretion of the committee. The committee can request a member to appear before it, provided that where any accusation or charge is made, the member shall be given full and reasonable opportunity to put forward a defence and bring witnesses at a later meeting. Any member expelled or asked to resign shall have the right to appeal to a special general meeting called for the purpose. All Committee proceedings and those of any special general meeting called under this rule shall be treated as confidential.

11. The name of any member whose subscription is more than 12 months in arrears may be removed from the membership list by order of the committee.

12. A member not in arrears may resign at any time by notifying the secretary. No refunds will be made.

13. A member in arrears, or who has not paid a subscription for the current year, may be considered an associate member of the club, but cannot vote at meetings or take part in club competitions.

14. In the event of dissolution a special general meeting shall be called at which a liquidator shall be appointed and a decision made then or subsequently as to the disposal of the club’s assets.

15. Associate members may attend the A.G.M. , the dinner , lectures as a guest and any special occasions or trips. They do not have voting rights or the right to enter competitions, as in rule 13.

16. No alteration or addition to these rules shall be made except by the A.G.M. or a Special General Meeting called in accordance with rule 7.

17. The Committee shall have authority to deal with any business which arises connected with the Club not already provided for in these rules.

18. As an exceptional honour a ‘President’ may be appointed by a majority vote of members at the A.G.M. The holder may use the title for 12 months, after which they become known as ‘Immediate past President’ for a further 12 months and then ‘Past President’. Anyone who holds or has held the office of President may attend and vote at any Club meetings as long as they remain a member of the Club.
